About COOKIE

Cookie  Dittmann   Phillips  has  always loved  the  arts,  with  writing  as  one  of  her   many   interests.   She has dabbled in musical theater, dance, singing, writing, and painting and has taken many  courses   learning about them.   She studied art in many locations to include the Honolulu Academy of Arts, Oahu, HI; the Annette Bush Studio, Augusta, GA; Copperas Cove, TX, and her hometown of Lake Charles. She has authored several books, primarily for children. Her latest, Dear Cookie, was a project that is near and dear to her.  Cookie says, "Continuing to learn and taking on projects seems to be a must for me.  The challenge is practicing techniques and finding that emotional place where I just 'go with the flow'.  I find this true with all the arts. Once I get in that ‘zone,’ my coffee gets cold, my sandwich gets stale, and hours pass without notice."

Cookie married her college sweetheart, which led to 36 full and interesting years living the military life. They moved many times and lived “everywhere” including Turkey, Germany, 13 years in Hawaii, and Massachusetts, Maryland, Texas, California, Georgia, and now, Louisiana. When asked which is her favorite, she always answers “the one I was living in at the time.”

Cookie has two grown sons, a wonderful daughter-in-law (all veterans) and two perfect teenage granddaughters.

In 1999, she and her husband moved back to Cookie’s hometown of Lake Charles, LA, and have enjoyed their lives in “Cajun country” despite all the hurricanes.
